International demonstration days

19 September 2013

Next week the Vigour team will be discovering a new range of vegetable crops during the Nickerson-Zwaan International Open Days!

Tuesday and Wednesday (24/25 September) Julie and Steve will join vegetable professionals from around the world visewing the latest novelties of open field vegetable varieties offered by seed companies Nickerson -Zwaan, Vilmorin and Clause. The International Open Days near Dirkshorn (province of North-Holland in the Netherlands) are a unique opportunity for fruitful interaction between professionals from the international vegetable business.

Interesting innovations on display will be:

  • The brassica (cabbage) hybrid: ZOLTAN (NiZ 17-1265). A storage variety with a high yield, for medium custody, and with the full package disease resistance .
  • Red cabbage (NiZ 13-418). A mid-early industrial variety with high yield and with a remarkable dark internal coloring.
  • New is cauliflower NIZ 10-605. A race for the fresh market that is very suitable for the summer due to the high uniformity and quality.
  • Introduction of TINTY. A red cabbage which is also suitable for mini cabbages.

Onion crop considerable growth

Onions have generated important growth for Nickerson-Zwaan in several markets worldwide. In Dirkshorn we focus on the Extra Long day types, on show in a dedicated onion pavilion in the field. High yield and long storage is the golden combination we offer. In the Long day segment MERANTO is our newest Spanish storage variety (up to 6 months!) In Extra Long day the Rijnsburgers FIRMO and PARADISO continue the success story of Centro and Dormo.
